About Me
My name is Mark Smith and I am currently the Mathematics Department Coordinator at Carmel School Association – Elsa High School. I teach IBMYP Math 2, 3, 4 and 5 and IB DP Math SL and HL.
I studied Mathematics at University of Houston – Victoria, before doing post-graduate work at Rice University, Houston, Texas, USA, as part of the Rice University School Mathematics Project (RUSMP).
My first experience as an educator was in Missouri City, Texas. I taught mathematics at Hightower High School for 3 years, acting as the department’s technology liaison, before joining Suzhou Singapore International School (SSIS) in 2008. While at SSIS I was the High School Learning Technology Teacher and taught in all 3 programs of the IBO and crossed over into the technology department.
I am passionate about effective use of technology to enhance education.
While still in Texas, I had the distinct pleasure of working with the High School Aerospace Scholars, an educational program at NASA’s Johnson Space Center.
